So Scarguard Really Works?

Here is a brief view with the pros and cons of ScarGuard MD. Scarguard MD differs from other silicone scar creams combines different ingredients. Or, as the manufacturer advertising: “a patented formulation that combines multiple technologies.” These treatments are:

  1. Silicone – Current silicone has been clinically proven to help reduce the size of the scar tissue and help to prevent new scarring after surgery.
  2. Corticosteroids – A low dose of hydrocortisone reduces irritation.
  3. Vitamin E – helps the healing process by softening and moisturizing the scar tissue all around.
  4. Pressure – Slight increase in the surface tension.
  5. Occlusion – the medical term for, and protect the scar.

A critical note about these five declared medically proven treatments:

Occlusion, it seems particularly by Silicon, to be effective in the scar treatment. But is the amount of pressure a silicone sheet, let alone a silicone cream manages to be neglected.

Vitamin E is used as a standalone Topical treatment by dermatologists is not recommended because it can lead to irritation of the skin and scar look worse. The benefits of vitamin E as part of a scar cream are contested.

Let’s take a look at the other Scarguard Scar Care ingredients.

Active ingredients: silicone 12.75% hydrocortisone 0.55%, non-active ingredients: vitamin e, flexible Collodion specially formulated.

Collodion is a flexible fabric that dries to form a flexible cellulose film when applied on the skin.

Cortisol or Hydrocortisone is a steroid hormone occurs naturally in the human body. It is here feature is to reduce the itch.

Hydrocortisone is also used anti-itch creams. If the most over-the-anti-itch creams ScarGuard MD also contains less than 1% of this component.

It is possible that the limited amount of people who suffer from irritation of the skin during the use of silicone benefit of using a product with hydrocortisone creams.

ScarGuard MD Cons

Cannot flaking, peels off is similar to paper on your skin are very thin, white, translucent paper film bad smell, smells such as acetone or nail polish remover (smell quickly disappears) does not seem to work on the old scars.

My Conclusion

However, because of the addition of hydrocortisone ScarGuard would be ideal for people with sensitive skin that are sensitive to the sweat of the rash or any other skin irritations.
